The first decision you need to make when buying Dynamics 365 (CRM) for Sales and/or Customer Service is between Professional or Enterprise licensing. The Professional level is targeted at smaller organizations with less complex needs. Professional level licensing has significantly restricted configuration and customization capabilities (see below).
The Enterprise level is by far the most popular type of licensing purchased as it includes all the features and functions available in the platform and does not have the configuration/customization restrictions that the Professional level has.
Professional and Enterprise licensing cannot be mixed, if you have even one user that needs any of the Enterprise features, you need to purchase all Enterprise level licensing.
Professional vs Enterprise have different features
Next, for every user pick at least one base license then any attach licenses. Attach licenses allow additional functionality (additional licenses) to be added to a user at significantly reduced pricing. For example, if a user needs both Sales and Customer Service, you can purchase the Sales base license then add the Customer Service attach license for $20/month.
